Court Extends Raoof Hasan’s Remand for Three More Days

ISLAMABAD: A court in Islamabad has approved a three-day extension to the physical remand of Raoof Hasan, spokesperson for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), handing him over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Hasan and other PTI media cell members are accused of running anti-Pakistan propaganda.

The FIA claims that the PTI digital media center has been spreading disinformation against Pakistan. Hasan and others were presented in court after their initial two-day remand. During the hearing, bail petitions for two female PTI workers were approved, with each required to post Rs50,000 surety bonds.

The FIA prosecutor argued that social media campaigns were being conducted against state institutions, and that the two women were part of these efforts. The defense asked for evidence to be presented in court.

The prosecutor alleged that the suspects were using fake social media accounts for propaganda and mentioned that international individuals were also involved. He added that Hasan heads the PTI’s social media team and that more time is needed to gather evidence.

The case involves charges under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), including glorification of an offense, cyber-terrorism, and hate speech. The FIR states that PTI’s media cell, led by Hasan, is attempting to undermine Pakistan’s integrity and create chaos.
