RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will address a press conference today at 3 pm at the General Headquarters. The conference will focus on the current security situation in Pakistan, according to Geo News.

This briefing comes just weeks after Lt. Gen. Chaudhry discussed the threat of “militants and digital terrorists,” emphasizing the sacrifices made by the armed forces in fighting terror. He previously highlighted the importance of standing against both physical and digital terrorism on social media.

“The army is standing up against terrorists and digital terrorists. The time has come for the entire nation to stand up against them,” he said in his last appearance.

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry also mentioned that significant issues in Pakistan are being politicized. He used Azm-e-Istehkam, a comprehensive counter-terrorism campaign, as an example, clarifying that it is not merely a military operation.

The press conference is scheduled just two days after a security convoy of judges was attacked in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the deaths of two policemen.

In the second quarter of 2024, Pakistan witnessed 380 fatalities and 220 injuries among civilians, security personnel, and outlaws from 240 incidents of terror attacks and counter-terror operations, according to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS). Most of these incidents occurred in KP and Balochistan, which share borders with Afghanistan. These regions reported nearly 92% of all fatalities and 87% of attacks, with KP suffering 67% and Balochistan 25% of all fatalities.
