Dr. Rashid, who has been in Kot Lakhpat Jail on judicial remand, has previously faced health issues. Her lawyer, Advocate Rana Mudassar, stated that despite repeated court orders for timely medical attention, she has been struggling to receive the necessary care. Mudassar emphasized that Rashid’s health has worsened due to delays in treatment, and the results of her tests will provide further clarity on her condition.

At 72 years old, Rashid has a history of health problems. In May, she was transferred to Services Hospital in Lahore after collapsing. Now, she is receiving treatment at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, where doctors are conducting a series of tests to determine the extent of her illness. Sources at the hospital noted that she has been experiencing breathing difficulties, and additional examinations will be carried out at a government facility.

Dr. Rashid’s health issues come amidst her ongoing legal troubles. She has been imprisoned for over a year, facing multiple charges linked to the nationwide protests and riots that erupted on May 9, 2023, following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan. Initially detained under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance on May 12, Rashid was later arrested again for her alleged involvement in the May 9 unrest. Many PTI leaders, including Khan, have been behind bars for nearly a year, with charges stemming from the violent protests that targeted state installations, including the Lahore Corps Commander House.

As the situation unfolds, many are watching closely, hoping for a resolution that ensures Rashid receives the medical attention she urgently needs.
