ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has granted a two-day physical remand of PTI’s Information Secretary Raoof Hasan to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Hasan is being investigated for his alleged involvement in spreading anti-state propaganda.
The FIA prosecutor requested the remand to recover social media devices purportedly used for the propaganda.
On Monday, Islamabad Police arrested Hasan from PTI’s Central Secretariat, accusing him of heading a digital media cell involved in anti-Pakistan activities.
“The PTI digital media center had become a hub for international disinformation, spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda globally,” stated the police.
Initially, there were reports that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan was also arrested, but the ICT later clarified that only Hasan was taken into custody during the raid.
