Ganga Ram Hospital Worker Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor

Sexual Assault

LAHORE – Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore is facing protests after a five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a sanitary worker at the facility.

The girl’s mother accused the hospital administration of trying to cover up the incident. Following public outrage, security guards detained the 22-year-old suspect, who was then handed over to the Mozang police.

Initial reports suggest that while the probe did not find immediate evidence of sexual assault, a case has been filed against the suspect for harassment. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital as part of their investigation.

The suspect, who works as a sweeper at the hospital, remains in custody. The incident led to protests by female doctors and paramedics outside the hospital, demanding justice for the child and better security measures.

Relatives of the girl claim that the hospital worker attempted to assault her. Protesting nurses and students from the hospital also briefly blocked traffic before clearing the roads.

In response to the protests, Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, VC of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, met with students and staff to address their concerns and promised to consider their demands for improved campus security.
