Gohar and Omar have been re-elected as PTI’s chairman and general secretary, respectively.

The Federal Election Commissioner of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Raoof Hasan, officially declared that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Omar Ayub Khan have been elected as the Chairman and Secretary General of the party without any opposition in the intra-party polls.

During a news conference, Raoof Hasan explained that the PTI’s election commissioners for Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa would announce the results for provincial presidents, while the election for the Balochistan president was still ongoing.

He mentioned that the intra-party elections were conducted for the third time, following the guidelines set by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Raoof Hasan disclosed that Gohar Ali Khan secured the position of PTI Chairman without facing any opposition, as three other candidates withdrew their nominations. The panel of Gohar Ali Khan and Omar Ayub was nominated by PTI founder Imran Khan.

Regarding the election process, Raoof Hasan mentioned that four candidates submitted their nomination papers for the Chairman position. Naveed Anjum’s nomination was rejected due to his contested involvement in the general election 2024 as an opponent of PTI-supported candidate, leading to the cancellation of his party membership. However, Naveed re-registered as a PTI member to participate in the intra-party election.

For the Secretary General position, only one nomination paper was received for Omar Ayub, leading to his uncontested victory.

In Punjab, Dr. Yasmin Rashid became the President uncontested, as the other two panels withdrew their nomination papers. Ali Amin Gandapur similarly became the PTI KP President without opposition.

For the Sindh president, Haleem Adil Sheikh won uncontested after the disqualification of the opposing panel due to a member’s violation of PTI’s policies during the general election of 2024.

The election for Balochistan president was ongoing, with six panels initially in the field. Two panels withdrew, and one was rejected. Out of the three remaining panels, Dawood Shah Kakar’s panel ‘Insaf Noujawan’ emerged victorious.

Ashraf Jabbar and Muhammad Aslam voluntarily withdrew their candidature for the PTI Chairman position, expressing support for Barrister Gohar. They emphasized the importance of working as a unified entity to address challenges and demanded the release of Imran Khan.

Dr. Muhammad Aslam highlighted concerns about alleged results tampering during the general election and called for announcing results according to Form 45, ensuring the rightful representation of the people.
