Shahid Aziz, also known as Gullu Butt, passed away recently after a long illness.
He was known for his involvement in the violent protests that took place in Model Town, Lahore back in 2014.
Gullu Butt was known for his distinctive mustache and became something of a symbol of the Model Town clashes. During the protests, Gullu Butt was filmed damaging cars outside the office of a political party. He was later arrested for his actions.
Sadly, Gullu Butt had been sick for several months before his passing. His family reported he suffered from a brain hemorrhage and diabetes. These health problems left him unable to get out of bed for a long time. News reports say Gullu Butt was once a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) political party.
The 2014 Model Town clashes were a violent incident where police clashed with protesters. Gullu Butt’s actions during that time gained him notoriety, but it’s important to remember that at least 10 people died in the overall violence.
