Heavy Rain and Cyclone Storm Expected for Karachi and Hyderabad

A strong weather system near Tharparkar and India’s Rann of Kutch is moving towards Karachi and Hyderabad. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that Karachi might see 150 to 200 mm of rain over the next three days. The system will likely form a cyclone storm in the Arabian Sea, intensifying as it moves.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in Karachi and Hyderabad starting Thursday evening. Rain is anticipated to continue until August 31, with the possibility of intermittent showers across Sindh.

Surjani Town in Karachi received the most rain recently with 30 mm. Other areas in Karachi saw varying amounts, including Nazimabad with 26 mm and Keamari with 21 mm.

Due to the forecast, schools in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sajawal, Badin, Tandwalayar, and Sanghar will be closed on Friday. However, schools in Karachi will remain open as the previous holiday notification has been canceled.
