A district and sessions court on Thursday rejected Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi’s request to suspend their sentences in the case concerning their marriage during her iddat period.
The court upheld their punishment.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka announced the verdict after reviewing evidence and hearing arguments from all parties. He issued a detailed 10-page judgment stating that bail cannot be granted even for offenses under Section 426.
The judge ruled that there were no grounds to suspend the sentence for both petitioners under section 426 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC). Therefore, both petitions were dismissed.

During previous hearings, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s lawyer argued about jurisdiction issues related to where the marriage was solemnized versus where the sentence was given. The lawyers presented their cases, mentioning similar instances in other legal matters.
