Imran Khan Refuses Lie Detector and Other Tests at Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan refused to undergo polygraph, photogrammetry, and voice matching tests on Tuesday. A team from Lahore, including officials from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), had come to Adiala Jail to question him about several cases linked to the May 9 riots.

The 12-member team, led by DSP Javed Asif and including PFSA experts Abid Ayub and Inspector Waqas Khalid, arrived at the jail where Khan has been held for nearly a year. They tried to interrogate Khan and conduct the tests, but he refused.

Khan expressed distrust in the authorities and demanded his lawyers be present. “I am being investigated by multiple agencies and will not take any tests at this time. I will give the police a chance to conduct the tests later,” he said.

Despite his refusal to take the tests, Khan agreed to answer questions for about 15 minutes after DSP Asif assured him of fair treatment.

This was the second attempt by the Lahore police team to question Khan. On Monday, they arrived at Adiala Jail and waited for about 3.5 hours, but Khan refused to cooperate.

The police informed Khan that he was a “nominated accused” in 12 cases related to anti-terrorism, incitement, and other charges from the May 9 protests. They also noted that his physical remand was approved by the court and that they needed to interrogate him.

After their visit, the team briefed Lahore DIG Investigation Zeeshan Asghar on Khan’s lack of cooperation. A strategy for a follow-up visit will be discussed with the prosecution department.
