Pakistan’s Information Technology (IT) industry is growing and achieving new records.
In January, IT exports increased by 39.4%, reaching $265 million compared to $190 million in January 2023. The total IT exports for the first seven months of this fiscal year (July-January) reached $1.7 billion, showing a 13% rise from $1.5 billion in the same period last year.
In these months, exports of computer services grew by 10.32%, going from $1,064.579 million to $1,174.481 million from July to December 2023-24. Specifically, software consultancy services had a slight decrease, hardware consultancy services increased, and repair and maintenance services decreased.
The export and import of computer software services showed a rise from $302.376 million to $310.807 million, marking a 2.79% increase.
However, the export of information services went down by 19.72%, dropping from $2.180 million to $1.750 million. Among information services, information-related services increased, while news agency services decreased.
The export of telecommunication services increased by 3.89%, going from $268.021 million to $278.650 million, as per the data.
