Independent Members Pledge Allegiance to PTI Following Supreme Court Verdict

Independent members have begun submitting their affidavits of allegiance to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on reserved seats.

Prominent PTI leader Mian Azhar, along with MPAs Sardar Muhammad Ali Khan and Syed Ijaz Hussain Bhatti, have formally pledged their allegiance to Imran Khan’s party.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court of Pakistan issued a landmark verdict declaring PTI eligible for reserved seats, overturning previous decisions by the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which had denied the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) allocation of these seats.

In an 8-5 majority decision, the Supreme Court struck down the ECP’s ruling to allocate reserved seats to the ruling coalition, deeming it “unconstitutional.” Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who delivered the order supported by eight judges, stated, “As a political party, the PTI is entitled to its reserved seats.”

This decision has prompted independent members to reaffirm their support for PTI, strengthening the party’s position following the favorable verdict.
