India agreed with Iran to control and improve a port in Iran called Chabahar for 10 years.

India and Iran signed a special agreement to work together on a port in Iran called Chabahar.

This is a big deal because it will allow India to trade more easily with Iran, Afghanistan, and other countries nearby. Normally, goods would go through ports in Pakistan, but this new deal gives India another option.

There were some problems with this plan before because of disagreements between the United States and Iran. But now, India and Iran are moving forward anyway. An important official from India, Minister Sonowal, said this port will be good for trade throughout the region, not just between India and Iran. He also said both countries are excited to use this port to reach more markets.

The agreement is for 10 years and will involve an Indian company investing a lot of money (around $370 million) to improve the port. An Iranian official, Minister Bazrpash, is happy about the deal and believes it shows trust between the two countries.

This port has already been used to ship things like wheat from India to Afghanistan, and with this new agreement, even more trade is expected to flow through Chabahar. An Indian foreign affairs official, Minister Jaishankar, highlighted that this deal is a big step because it will allow for more investment in the port, making it even more important in the future.
