Islamabad is set to receive Pakistan’s “first-ever” health tower.

Prime Minister Shehbaz chaired a meeting to discuss various issues concerning Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services.

During the session, he emphasized the importance of enhancing healthcare infrastructure through public-private partnerships. He expressed concerns over recent polio cases and pledged to eradicate the disease by leveraging all available resources and collaborating with partners.

Additionally, the Prime Minister called for third-party audits of laboratories under the Ministry and stressed the appointment of qualified health professionals.

Shehbaz also directed audits of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan and proposed separating drug processing from the Authority’s functions.

He emphasized outsourcing human resources and waste management in Islamabad’s government hospitals and called for nationwide audits of nursing schools. Plans for a National Blood Transfusion Policy and nursing and midwifery frameworks were discussed, along with efforts to control population growth through a revised National Action Plan.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the installation of new medical equipment in Islamabad hospitals and ordered a third-party audit of these purchases.

He was also informed about upcoming initiatives like insulin manufacturing, vaccine production facilities, and healthcare expansions in remote areas like Musakhel, Azad Jammu Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan. Federal ministers and senior officials attended the meeting to coordinate these healthcare initiatives.
