Italian Navy Aircraft Carrier Arrives in Pakistan to Strengthen Defense Ties

ISLAMABAD: The Italian Navy’s Carrier Strike Group, including an aircraft carrier and a frigate, arrived in Karachi for a three-day visit aimed at enhancing maritime security and defense cooperation between Italy and Pakistan.

The fleet, consisting of the aircraft carrier Cavour and the frigate Alpino, was welcomed by senior Pakistan Navy officials and Italian Ambassador Marilina Armellin.

This visit marks the first time an Italian aircraft carrier has docked in Pakistan. The three-day stay will include a bilateral naval exercise between the two nations.

Ambassador Armellin, along with Rear Admiral Stefano Barbieri, met with Pakistan Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Abdul Munib to discuss future collaboration and mutual interests. Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi also toured the Cavour to learn about its capabilities.

Ambassador Armellin expressed Italy’s strong commitment to deepening ties with Pakistan, noting the country’s participation in maritime security efforts and the growing friendship between the two nations. Italy values Pakistan as a strategic partner in regional security, and defense cooperation continues to play a crucial role in their relationship.
