Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticized the report of the Faizabad sit-in inquiry commission, calling it untrustworthy and worthless.
The commission was investigating the 2017 sit-in by Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and cleared former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hamid. Asif claimed that high-ranking officials did not appear before the commission, only political workers like himself.
The commission was formed by the Supreme Court and gave a clean chit to Hamid and former Punjab Rangers director general Major General (retd) Azhar Naveed Hayat. The commission suggested taking legal action based on the findings of the federal government and Punjab.
The Supreme Court later closed the case regarding the Faizabad sit-in.
