The Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed a plea seeking to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) rally scheduled for tomorrow, September 21. The decision was made by a three-member bench in response to a request from advocate Nadeem Sarwar, who argued that the rally should not be allowed.
The court ruled that Sarwar was not an affected party and therefore lacked the standing to bring the case.
In a separate matter, PTI has filed a petition with the LHC seeking protection for its workers and leaders ahead of the rally at Minar-e-Pakistan. This plea, submitted by Sheikh Imtiaz and Yasir Gillani, claims that police are arresting party members in Punjab, violating their constitutional right to organize a rally. The petitioners are asking the court to prevent these arrests and ensure that the rally can proceed peacefully.
PTI’s rally is set to take place in Lahore on September 21.
