LAHORE – Manchester Police are facing criticism after a video showing officers assaulting a British-Pakistani family at Manchester Airport went viral. The footage, captured on Wednesday afternoon, shows an armed officer kicking and stomping on a man’s head.
The video has sparked outrage online, leading Manchester Police to address concerns about the officers’ behavior. In response, the police have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), and one officer has been removed from duty.
Authorities explained that they were called to Terminal 2 due to a public altercation that escalated into a violent assault on officers trying to make an arrest. In the video, a male officer is seen pointing a taser at men identified as British Pakistanis. Eyewitnesses can be heard reacting before the officer kicks and stomps on a man’s head.
The chaotic scene continues with another officer pointing a taser at other individuals, while people urge the police to stop the violence. Several officers surround the man on the ground as others shout expletives.
Police reported that four men were arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting emergency service workers. A female officer reportedly suffered a broken nose, and other officers needed hospitalization.
The video has raised concerns about the use of force in arrests. An investigation is ongoing, and further actions will be taken based on its findings.
