A police officer working for India’s Central Reserve Police Force in Kashmir reportedly shot himself.
This isn’t the first suicide by Indian forces in Kashmir. News reports say there have been many suicides already.
One source claims over 596 Indian soldiers have killed themselves in Kashmir since 2007, blaming stress and bad policies by the Indian government.
Another report says that half of the Indian soldiers currently in Kashmir are under a lot of pressure.
The news also mentions two recent suicides of Indian soldiers – one on November 16th and another on November 15th, 2023.
Both Indian and international media are worried about the rise in suicides among Indian soldiers in Kashmir.
