The creators of the upcoming movie about the legendary Pop singer Michael Jackson, directed by Antoine Fuqua and titled ‘Michael,’ have revealed the first image of the film’s main star, Jaafar Jackson.
The photo, taken by renowned photographer Kevin Mazur, who previously captured Michael Jackson during his 1980s and ’90s tours and rehearsals for the ‘This Is It’ concerts, shows Jaafar portraying the King of Pop while performing ‘Man in the Mirror’ from the Dangerous World Tour.
The producer of the film, Graham King, praised Jaafar, stating, “With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael. He embodies Michael in a way that no other actor could.”
Director Antoine Fuqua also expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “We have assembled an incredible team of artists for this project – hair & makeup, costumes, cinematography, choreography, lighting, everything – and some who knew and worked with Michael are reuniting for this film. But most importantly, it’s Jaafar who embodies Michael.”
Fuqua emphasized that Jaafar’s portrayal goes beyond physical resemblance, capturing Michael’s spirit magically. He urged people to experience it to believe it.
In addition to Jaafar, ‘Michael,’ co-produced by Graham King with John Branca and John McClain, features Colman Domingo, Nia Long, and Miles Teller.
This musical drama is scheduled to be released in theaters in April 2025.
