Miss Buenos Aires says beauty pageants are changing after Miss Universe run.

A 60-year-old woman from Argentina entered the Miss Universe contest.

Although she didn’t win, she believes her journey has started a change in how people see beauty. Alejandra Rodriguez won the title of Miss Buenos Aires earlier, making history as the oldest winner. Even though she didn’t win Miss Argentina, she won the “best face” category and sees it as a sign of change.

She’s a lawyer and journalist, and she thinks beauty standards should expand beyond just looks. The Miss Universe organization changed its rules in 2023, allowing older contestants like her to participate. Before, contestants had to be between 18 and 28 years old. Now, there’s no upper age limit.

This change is part of modernizing the pageant. Now, married, divorced, pregnant, or mothers can also join. Rodriguez is happy to be part of this change, even if she didn’t win. She believes it’s breaking stereotypes about beauty, age, and motherhood. The winner this year was Magalí Benejam, who is 29 years old.
