KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of more heavy monsoon rains across the country, driven by humid winds from the Bay of Bengal. These rains are expected to continue until September 5.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall today and tomorrow, raising concerns about potential floods and landslides. District administrations are on high alert in response to these forecasts.
PMD Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz stated that moderate rain is expected in northeastern Punjab, with light showers likely in cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.
In Karachi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25°C today, with a forecasted high of 31°C to 33°C. The city is expected to experience light rain or drizzle at night, with heavier rainfall predicted for September 4.
The new weather system may also bring rain to parts of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Thatta, Tharparkar, Mithi, and Badin, starting tomorrow. Sardar Sarfaraz also mentioned that northeastern Balochistan, already affected by previous heavy rains, could see more downpours from this system. He noted that the heat may intensify after September 7.
This forecast follows recent heavy rains and strong winds in Sindh, influenced by Cyclone Asna, which dissipated without making landfall.
