Elon Musk surprised many people in the electric car industry by letting go of his entire team working on Tesla’s Supercharger stations.
These stations are special charging spots for Tesla cars known for being fast and reliable, which is important because unreliable chargers can discourage people from buying electric vehicles (EVs).
The US government is trying to get more people to switch to electric cars by giving money to states to build charging stations. Tesla won a big chunk of this money, but now it’s unclear if they can still do the job after firing their charging team.
Some experts say this might not be a bad thing. Other companies are building charging stations, which may give them a chance to catch up to Tesla. In the long run, it could be better to have more companies involved so there are more charging stations everywhere, not just concentrated on Tesla cars.
Tesla’s decision might have been because building charging stations in less populated areas isn’t very profitable. Maybe they figured they should focus on areas where they can sell more cars instead.
