Nawaz Sharif, a three-time Prime Minister, has been keeping a low profile after his party didn’t win the majority in the recent elections.
However, he’s been seen leading Punjab government meetings. He returned to Pakistan after four years in the UK, and despite a strong election campaign, his party didn’t get the expected results.
His brother, Shehbaz Sharif, became the Prime Minister of a coalition government.
Nawaz Sharif believes that if his government hadn’t been dismissed in 2017, Pakistan would have progressed significantly.
He criticizes those who removed him from power, including former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa and PTI chairman Imran Khan.
He promises to bring to justice those who illegally toppled his government. Despite some opposition within his party, his close aide, Khawaja Asif, supports him and calls for questioning those involved in the 2017 incident.
