Osama bin Laden’s Top Aide Captured in Lahore

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has arrested Amin ul-Haq, a key ally of the infamous Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. This arrest, made in Lahore, follows a detailed intelligence operation.

Amin ul-Haq, known for his close ties to bin Laden, is also on the United Nations’ list of global terrorists. The CTD confirmed that a case has been filed against him, and further investigations are ongoing.

It’s been thirteen years since the dramatic raid by US special forces that ended bin Laden’s life in Abbottabad. He had lived there in secrecy, with no internet or phone lines, for years.

The capture of Amin ul-Haq comes after a decade-long hunt for bin Laden, who was ultimately located through his compound. Following his death, the Pakistani government demolished his hideout, which had become a symbol of embarrassment for the military and a strain on US-Pakistan relations.
