Pakistan is at risk of facing changes in its weather due to climate change, and the country is currently witnessing different weather patterns.
Recently, heavy rains caused problems in the southwestern region of Balochistan. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has now warned about more challenging weather.
The NDMA, which manages disasters in the country, has said that a mild westerly wave is on its way to Balochistan. This wave is expected to bring light to moderate rain to the western areas starting this week. Other places like Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Pothohar might also experience rain and thunderstorms. In hilly areas, there is a chance of snowfall.
Between March 8 and 10, central and southern parts of Punjab might see some rain, and the northern regions could experience significant snowfall. Looking ahead to March 10 to 12, the forecast suggests rain and thunderstorms in southern and northern Balochistan, covering places like Katch, Gwadar, and Quetta.
Similar weather conditions are expected in the western and higher regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Kashmir, while the rest of the country may have dry weather.
These weather changes can have different impacts across the country. There might be a risk of landslides in certain areas like Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and KP. Tourists are advised to be careful and take necessary precautions.
The NDMA is also advising residents and travelers to stay informed about weather updates and to take necessary precautions to reduce any risks associated with the upcoming weather conditions. Everyone needs to be prepared and stay safe during these changes in the weather.
