Pakistan Offers Free Visas to Turkish Citizens to Boost Tourism

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced that citizens from Turkey will now receive free visas, as part of the country’s efforts to enhance tourism. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that Turkish nationals can apply for online visas without any cost starting Wednesday, August 14th.

During a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Paçaci in Islamabad, Minister Naqvi stated that this visa waiver will make it easier for Turkish citizens to visit Pakistan.

This move follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent announcement of significant changes to Pakistan’s visa policy. The new regime allows visitors from 126 countries, including Turkey, to obtain visas without paying a fee.

In a cabinet meeting, the prime minister emphasized the importance of promoting investment over collecting small amounts from visa fees. He noted that while Pakistan might lose $5-7 million annually in visa fees, the potential to generate $50 million in investment and tourism could be a significant achievement.

A press release from the cabinet meeting confirmed that the new online visa system will facilitate business and tourist visas for citizens of 126 countries within 24 hours, free of charge.
