LONDON: Raza Nazar, a student from Karachi, Pakistan, has made history by becoming the first Pakistani to be elected President of the graduate community (MCR) at Trinity College, University of Oxford.
Raza is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Civil Laws (BCL) at Oxford, with a focus on constitutional law, jurisprudence, and political theory.
He studied at Karachi Grammar School before earning his International Baccalaureate Diploma from the United World College in Singapore. Raza then graduated from the London School of Economics (LSE) with a Double First in Law (LLB), where he was ranked second in Jurisprudence.
During his time at LSE, Raza became the first Pakistani to be elected President of the LSE Law Society, which won the “Best Student Society” award in 2018 under his leadership. He also served as President of the LSE Pakistan Society and, at just 19, founded the LSE Future of Pakistan Conference, a student-run forum that brings together ministers, academics, and students each year.
Raza has written several articles, including a paper on a Supreme Court case involving the tenure extension of the Chief of Army Staff. With his academic and professional background, Raza aims to explore best practices for constitution-making in Asia and contribute to scholarship on constitutional duties.
