Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan announced on Wednesday that Pakistan’s agriculture exports have reached a record $8 billion for the first time in the country’s history. He shared this milestone during a virtual meeting with the Sectoral Council for Rice and the Council for Dairy and its Products.
Kamal highlighted the importance of the agriculture sector’s contribution to the national economy and expressed the government’s commitment to further increasing export volumes. He encouraged the council to aim for $5 billion in additional exports next year, reflecting the government’s confidence in continued growth.
He also noted Pakistan’s strong position in the European and Gulf rice markets, stressing the need for pesticide-free products to stay competitive.
Earlier, it was reported that Pakistan exported 1.126 million metric tons of vegetables worth $430 million in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. This marked a 43.2% increase compared to the previous year’s exports of $300 million.
