In a recent meeting, Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, met with his counterpart from the United Kingdom, General Patrick Sanders.
They discussed ways to improve collaboration between the two countries’ militaries and strengthen their defense relationship. General Munir also congratulated the upcoming head of the UK army, General Roland Walker, on his new position.
This meeting coincided with the 6th Pakistan-UK Regional Stabilization Conference held in Islamabad. This conference is a key platform for discussions on defense and security matters between the two nations. It brings together a wide range of experts, including diplomats, military officials, academics, and even representatives from civil society organizations. This year, the conference expanded its focus to include not just issues between Pakistan and the UK, but also broader regional security concerns. To facilitate these discussions, a delegation of 30 people from the UK, led by Major General Tom Bateman, is visiting Pakistan for the conference.
Overall, this event highlights the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and the UK on defense and security issues, with this year’s edition aiming to broaden the conversation to address regional challenges.
