Pakistan’s first hand-drawn animation film, The Glassworker, has finally unveiled its trailer with much excitement.
Directed by Usman Riaz, known for his work on Seedlings’ music score, the movie features anime-style visuals and is written by Moya O’Shea.
The main characters have names that reflect both English and Pakistani cultures, with dialogues dubbed in both languages. However, the Urdu version seems less polished, possibly due to direct translation from English.
The Glassworker appears similar to Japanese animations rather than a Pakistani production, yet it includes local flavor with characters like Nadia Amano, Principal Bhatti, Mrs. Popolzai, and Professor Ansari, voiced by actors like Khaled Anam, Mooroo, and others.
The film’s true representation of Pakistani culture will be clearer when it hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
