Panjgur DC Zakir Baloch Shot Dead by Unknown Assailants

QUETTA: Panjgur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zakir Baloch was tragically shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on the National Highway near the Khada-Kucha area in Mastung District on Monday.

Baloch, along with District Chairman Malik Jan and his friend Ahmed Jan, was traveling from Panjgur to Quetta when they were ambushed by armed attackers near the Kand Umrani area. The assailants fled the scene after the attack, according to Levies sources.

The DC and his companions sustained severe bullet wounds. Rescue teams quickly arrived and transported them to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, Zakir Baloch succumbed to his injuries during initial treatment.

The two injured were later transferred to Quetta Civil Hospital’s trauma center for further medical care.

In response, Levies forces cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation into the incident.

PM Condemns Attack
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack on Panjgur’s deputy commissioner. He expressed deep sorrow over the death of DC Zakir Baloch and prayed for his soul and for strength for his grieving family. The Prime Minister also wished a swift recovery for the injured and instructed officials to ensure they receive the best medical treatment.

The PM emphasized that those responsible for this attack would be brought to justice and punished accordingly. He acknowledged the bravery of district administration officers who continue to serve despite constant threats.
