Prime Minister chose Aurangzeb for the economy committee after complaints.

The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has changed who leads an important group called the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

Now, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will be in charge. This decision was made on Sunday.

The ECC includes many ministers who oversee different areas like finance, economics, trade, energy, and planning. Before, it was said that the Prime Minister would lead the ECC, and the Finance Minister would only step in when needed.

The Prime Minister also formed six other groups to handle different economic matters like energy and selling government-owned businesses. The ECC’s main job is to make sure new laws or changes to existing laws follow the rules and don’t break any current laws.

The ECC now includes important people like the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and heads of different government departments.

These changes to the ECC are happening because Pakistan is asking for more financial help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The country wants to borrow more than $8 billion. Pakistani leaders will talk with the IMF and other financial organizations in Washington, DC, in April.
