People still hold onto the memories of Princess Diana, and her brother Charles Spencer recently shared a lovely moment from their childhood on social media.
In a post on Instagram on Friday, March 1, Charles, who is officially known as the 9th Earl Spencer, posted a throwback black and white picture. The snapshot gives us a glimpse into their early years, around 1967 when Charles was about 3 years old, and Diana was 5 or 6.
Charles expressed his joy in the caption, saying, “My mother, Diana, and I, in c. 1967. I would have been 3, and Diana 5 or 6.” He shared his admiration for the happiness radiating from both of them in the photo.
In the picture, Charles can be seen on a swing, wearing a big smile. Diana, standing next to her younger brother, also has a bright grin. Charles sports a collared shirt, shorts, and sandals with socks, while Diana is dressed in a white T-shirt, high-waisted shorts, and flip-flops. Their late mother, Frances Shand Kydd, joins them, dressed casually in a T-shirt, shorts, and lace-up shoes.
Charles added a personal touch by sharing a memory about the nickname his mother gave him at that time. He wrote, “At this stage of my life, my mother nicknamed me ‘Buzz’ because she saw me as having the endless energy of a rather happy – and busy – bee.”
Diana and Charles are part of the larger Spencer family, which includes sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, along with a brother, John Spencer. Sadly, John passed away just hours after his birth in 1960.
The shared moment provides a heartwarming look into the Spencer family’s past, adding a personal touch to the enduring memory of Princess Diana.
