PTI has called off the Parade Ground rally because of Laylat-ul-Qadr.

Due to the upcoming blessed night called Laylat-ul-Qadr, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to cancel its big rally planned for April 6 at Islamabad’s Parade Ground.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced this on Wednesday. Laylat-ul-Qadr is a special night for Muslims during the last ten days of Ramadan, so PTI chose to respect it.

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also asked PTI supporters to pray for the safety and release of all party workers and leaders who are currently in jail, including PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi.

Last month, PTI had planned a big rally at Parade Ground to push for Imran Khan’s release. The Islamabad High Court had allowed PTI to hold this rally in the capital.

The decision to cancel the rally comes after the court suspended the sentences of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case. This case involved allegations of misusing state resources. The court said it would hear an appeal against their conviction after the Eid holidays. In January, a lower court had sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison and imposed heavy fines on them.
