The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, led by its jailed founder, plans to hold a rally in Peshawar to support the independence of the judiciary and seek the release of Imran Khan from prison.
This decision comes after PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, met Imran Khan in jail and discussed their strategy.
The rally highlights concerns about judicial freedom, following a letter from six Islamabad High Court judges to the Supreme Judicial Council regarding alleged interference by executive members and intelligence agencies in judicial matters.
Additionally, PTI leaders announced their intention to write a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan on behalf of Imran Khan, who expressed solidarity with the cause of judicial freedom from prison. The party also plans a larger gathering in Islamabad on April 6, emphasizing its peaceful nature and the goal of securing Imran Khan’s release.
Despite facing obstacles from authorities, such as PTI vehicles being stopped outside the prison, party members remain determined to advocate for their cause and raise awareness about the challenges facing the judiciary in Pakistan.
