PTI Leaders Sher Afzal Marwat and Shoaib Shaheen Arrested After Rally

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police arrested PTI MNA Sher Afzal Marwat and PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen on Monday. Marwat was taken into custody outside the National Assembly, while Shaheen was arrested at his residence.

Police initially tried to arrest Marwat at Parliament House but faced resistance from his private guard, who was also detained. Marwat’s arrest is related to his involvement in a PTI rally on September 8, where laws were allegedly violated. He will be held at Kohsar Police Station.

Further arrests of other PTI leaders, including Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul, are anticipated as police await their departure from the National Assembly. Three FIRs have been filed against PTI members for not adhering to the NOC guidelines during the rally.

Police have sealed the Red Zone, with checkpoints on Margalla Road restricting access and only allowing approved vehicles after inspection.
