Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) clarified that their leader, Imran Khan, wasn’t behind a controversial tweet about the 1971 war and a commission report.
PTI’s chairman, Barrister Gohar, explained that Khan doesn’t personally approve every tweet from his account. The tweet caused criticism for potentially stirring up hatred among people.
Gohar stated that the tweet was made in a political context, not to criticize the armed forces. He later addressed the issue on social media, emphasizing that their viewpoint is based on political events. The tweet referenced a report claiming all copies were missing or destroyed and compared past events to present military-civilian relations.
Despite PTI’s clarification, the tweet faced backlash, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accusing Khan of defaming the Pakistan Army. Leaders from other parties, like PML-N and PPP, also criticized the tweet for potentially misleading young people during a time of division.
