On July 31, a district and sessions court in Gujranwala approved her bail. Aliya Hamza was released from Gujranwala’s Central Jail after submitting Rs50,000 surety bonds as directed by the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Earlier today, LHC Justice Ali Baqar Najafi ordered that law enforcement agencies cannot arrest her in any new cases until August 29. The court also requested a report from the Attorney General for Pakistan regarding her bail plea.

Heavy police presence was observed outside the central jail, where Aliya was met by her family upon release.

Aliya Hamza, a former National Assembly member, faces charges related to the May 9 protests, which included allegations of anarchy, chaos, and arson targeting government and military properties. Despite securing bail in various cases previously, she was repeatedly rearrested.
