Punjab Bans Rallies for Three Days Under Section 144

LAHORE – The Punjab government has announced a three-day ban on rallies and public gatherings by imposing Section 144 across the province. This restriction will be in effect from July 26 to July 28. The decision was made to ensure the safety of human lives and protect public property, according to the Home Department.

Section 144

The imposition of Section 144 means that any form of public assembly, procession, or gathering will be prohibited during these days. This includes political rallies, protests, and any other large gatherings that could pose a risk to public safety.

The Home Department emphasized that this measure is temporary and aims to prevent any potential disturbances or incidents that could endanger citizens. The department also noted that public installations and infrastructure are often targets during large gatherings, and this ban is a preventative step to safeguard these critical assets.

Local law enforcement agencies have been instructed to enforce the ban strictly and ensure that no unauthorized gatherings take place. Police officials will be deployed at key locations across the province to monitor the situation and take action against any violations of Section 144.

The public has been urged to cooperate with the authorities and avoid organizing or participating in any gatherings during this period. The government has also advised citizens to stay informed through official channels and report any suspicious activities to the police.
