Remittances from Pakistan’s IT exports rose by 11% in November.

As of December 19, Pakistan’s Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Umar Saif, has shared positive news regarding the country’s information technology (IT) sector. According to Saif, export remittances for IT services witnessed an encouraging 11% increase in November compared to the same month in the previous year.

In a social media post on X, Minister Saif expressed satisfaction with the results, stating, “Our policy measures for the IT industry are showing positive results with IT exports showing a positive trend.” He went on to highlight that remittances from the export of IT services grew from $233 million in November 2022 to $259 million in the corresponding month of 2023.

Analyzing the broader trend, Minister Saif reported that the IT export remittances for the period from July to November 2023 reached $1.152 billion. This marks a significant increase of $64 million (5.88%) compared to the same period the previous year when the recorded remittances stood at $1.088 billion.

The minister’s announcement reflects the ongoing efforts and policy measures taken by the Pakistani government to boost the IT sector, contributing to the country’s economic growth. The positive trajectory in IT exports is not only a testament to the resilience of the industry but also signals the potential for further expansion and success in the future.
