Islamabad (Multan TV HD): The resolution to delay the Senate elections to February 8th has been approved with widespread consensus. According to private television channel “Geo News,” Senator Dilawar Khan presented the proposal to postpone the elections on February 8th. The agreement emphasizes the challenging winter conditions in most regions, making participation in elections difficult. Additionally, there have been attacks on JUI-F members and Mohsin Dawar, assaults on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan security forces.
The agreement suggests that the Election Commission should defer the election schedule for February 8th, ensuring a conducive environment for the electoral process. However, opposition to postponing the elections was voiced by PML-N Senator Afnanullah and Information Minister Murtaza Solangi.
Senator Afnanullah stated his intention to verify Senator Dilawar Khan’s reasons, expressing concerns that while security conditions in the country are not ideal, the situations in 2008 and 2013 were worse. He warned that using security as an excuse to postpone elections might lead to perpetual delays.
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani called for a vote on the matter, and the resolution to postpone the Senate elections to February 8th was approved with overwhelming consensus in the Senate.
