Pakistan’s off-spinner Sajid Khan made history during the second Test against England at the Multan Cricket Stadium by taking 7 wickets, breaking a 24-year-old record held by Saqlain Mushtaq.
Sajid’s brilliant bowling helped Pakistan dismiss England for 291 on day three, leaving England trailing Pakistan’s first innings total by 75 runs. The 31-year-old spinner finished with impressive figures of 7-111 from 26.2 overs, marking his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket.
Sajid became the first Pakistani off-spinner to take five or more wickets on home soil since Saqlain Mushtaq’s record-breaking performance in 2000 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
England resumed their innings on 239-6, but Sajid quickly struck, removing Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts. Noman Ali contributed with three wickets for 101 runs. Jack Leach’s unbeaten 25 added some resistance, but Sajid eventually wrapped up the innings.
Sajid’s performance was key to keeping Pakistan in control as they looked to maintain pressure on England throughout the match.
