Salman Shines with 79*, Saud Falls Short of Century as Pakistan Reaches 515-8 at Tea in Multan

Saud Shakeel fell short of a century, but Salman Agha’s quickfire 79* helped Pakistan reach a strong 515-8 by tea on the second day in Multan.

During the second session, Pakistan lost Saud (82) and Aamer Jamal, but Salman Agha’s aggressive innings, featuring two sixes and 10 boundaries, pushed the hosts past the 500-run mark. Shaheen Afridi was unbeaten on 13 at tea.

Earlier in the day, Naseem Shah proved his all-round skills, adding 33 runs, including three sixes, and frustrating England’s bowlers. His 82-ball knock, combined with Saud, contributed to a 64-run partnership. Naseem was eventually dismissed by debutant Brydon Carse, who claimed his first Test wicket.

Mohammad Rizwan was out for a duck, caught by Chris Woakes off Jack Leach. Saud Shakeel, who appeared set for a century, was dismissed in the slips off Shoaib Bashir after scoring 82.

England’s bowlers had a tough time on the batter-friendly Multan surface, managing only two wickets in the afternoon session. Salman’s attacking play, along with the steady performance of Pakistan’s tail, ensured that the team milked 118 runs from just 26 overs in this session.

England’s captain Ollie Pope also faced challenges, with an unsuccessful 0-13 review record so far.
