Sher Afzal Marwat was born on April 4, 1971, into a Pashtun family of the Marwat tribe in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. His educational foundation was laid at Government Degree College Lakki Marwat, where he developed a keen interest in law and public service.

He pursued higher education at the prestigious University of Peshawar, earning a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) before expanding his expertise with an LLM degree from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.

Legal and Professional Career

Sher Afzal Khan Marwat’s career began as a judicial officer, where he gained invaluable experience in the intricacies of the legal system. He subsequently served in key positions, including a role in the Estate Office on deputation and later as the Director General of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).

Before joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sher Afzal Marwat was affiliated with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) from 2008 until October 15, 2017. His decision to part ways with the party stemmed from a commitment to addressing the pressing issues facing his constituents.

In the 2024 Pakistani general election, Sher Afzal Marwat secured a decisive victory, garnering 117,996 votes and defeating Maulana Asjad Mahmood of JUI-F by an impressive margin of 45,311 votes.
