DreamWorks Animation has announced that “Shrek 5” is in production.
The movie will star Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Fiona, and Eddie Murphy as Donkey. It’s set to release on July 1, 2026, marking 25 years since the first “Shrek” film in 2001.
The “Shrek” franchise, known for its beloved characters and humorous adventures, has expanded over the years with spinoffs like “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and other entertainment like short films and a Broadway musical.
In the original movie, Shrek, an ogre living in a swamp, embarks on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona with the help of his talkative friend Donkey.
