The Sindh government has announced a reward of 50 million rupees for Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem after he won the first gold medal for Pakistan in 40 years at the Paris Olympics.

Spokesperson for the Sindh government and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab praised Arshad Nadeem’s achievement and congratulated him and the entire nation for bringing home the gold medal.

Wahab highlighted that Arshad not only secured the top position in javelin throw but also set a new Olympic record with his incredible performance. He further announced that the Sindh government is awarding Arshad 50 million rupees for his outstanding performance.

During the final of the men’s javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics, the entire nation was focused on Arshad Nadeem, who was Pakistan’s only hope for an Olympic medal after 32 years.

Pakistan last stood on the Olympic podium on August 8, 1992, when the national hockey team won a bronze medal by defeating the Netherlands at the Barcelona Olympics. The last Olympic gold medal for Pakistan was won by the hockey team in 1984.

Arshad Nadeem has made history by becoming the first Pakistani athlete to win a gold medal in an individual event.

In today’s final, Trinidad and Tobago’s Kishore N. led with a throw of 86.16 meters, while Arshad missed his first throw. Finland’s Lassi made a first throw of 78.81 meters, and India’s Neeraj Chopra’s first attempt was unsuccessful.

Arshad Nadeem made his second throw with an outstanding distance of 92.97 meters, setting a new Olympic record. This throw was the best of the competition so far.

The previous Olympic record was 90.57 meters, set by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Germany’s Julian Weber threw 87.33 meters, and Neeraj Chopra of India managed a throw of 89.45 meters in their second attempts.

In the second round, Arshad Nadeem’s third throw was 91.79 meters, further solidifying his lead and making history for Pakistan.
