A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court challenging tax exemptions for bureaucrats in the federal budget.
Advocate Nadeem Sarwar filed the petition on behalf of citizen Mashkoor Hussain.
The petition argues that the federal government has given tax relief to bureaucrats and military officials, which violates the Constitution as all citizens are supposed to be equal.
The petitioner wants the court to declare the tax exemption unlawful and to suspend the enforcement of section 236 of the Income Tax Ordinance until a final decision is made.
