The director of ‘James Bond’ movies will make four films about the Beatles’ lives.

“The Beatles’ label, Apple Corps Ltd, and the band members, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison, have permitted for the first time a scripted film about their lives. Pippa Harris and Sam Mendes will co-direct four films, each told from a different perspective, presenting a single story about the legendary band. The films are expected to be released in 2027.

In April 1970, six months after releasing the ‘Abbey Road’ album and a month before ‘Let It Be,’ the Beatles announced their separation. During their ten-year collaboration, they produced 14 best-selling albums, sold almost a billion records, and created several films. However, the band members’ families hadn’t previously allowed their story to be told on the silver screen.

Last autumn, a new song, ‘Now and Then,’ was produced and released using artificial intelligence. The song, originally recorded four decades ago as a demo, topped the British charts. The Beatles have been the subject of various documentaries, including Peter Jackson’s ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ series, which portrays the lead-up to their split positively.

Sam Mendes, known for directing ‘American Beauty’ and James Bond films ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Spectre,’ expressed his honor in telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time.

In recent years, there has been a rise in documentaries and biopics about legendary musicians, such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ about Queen, ‘Elvis’ depicting Elvis Presley’s life, ‘Tina’ celebrating Tina Turner, and ‘Rocketman’ narrating Elton John’s rise in the pop world.”
