The first Black woman to fly in the US Air Force is now taking her last flight.

Theresa Claiborne isn’t an average pilot. She’s a true aviation history-maker!

Captain Theresa Claiborne loved airplanes since she was young. Her dream was to fly them someday, and she did just that!

Captain Claiborne became the first Black woman pilot in the US Air Force in 1981. That’s a big deal because it showed everyone that anyone can be a pilot if they work hard!

After serving her country for 7 years, Captain Claiborne joined United Airlines. For 34 years, she flew airplanes all around the world, keeping everyone safe on board.

Captain Claiborne inspired many young people, especially girls and minorities, to chase their dreams of flying. Now that she’s retired, she still wants to help others! She teaches young women how to become pilots too.

Captain Claiborne had an amazing career and showed everyone that anything is possible! We’re excited to see who she inspires next!
